3.3 Mi Browser
3.3.1 Incognito mode
Protect your privacy when surfing the web
Users can limit Mi Browser's collection and recording of data by switching to incognito mode. When users enable the incognito mode, the following information will not be stored on the user's device or uploaded to Xiaomi's servers:
Basic browsing histories information, such as visited websites and search history
Actions on and downloads from visited web pages
Information entered into online forms
Changes to cookies
Other website data
Enabling incognito mode ensures that your search history and visited websites while in incognito mode are not visible to any other user of the device. Moreover, your browsing history, bookmarks, and tabs will not be synchronized to the cloud (if cloud synchronization is enabled). When using incognito mode, each tab operates independently from the others, preventing websites from tracking information across multiple sessions.
Incognito mode does not make you completely invisible on the Internet. The website you visit may record your access. In incognito mode, your browsing actions are not hidden from your Internet service provider or the websites you browse. It's worth noting that incognito mode automatically deactivates once you exit the browser process to ensure a seamless browsing experience.
3.3.2 Clearing History
Clear data anytime, anywhere
Mi Browser saves your history and website data on the device when incognito mode is not enabled. This gives users a better browsing experience, making it easy to access websites they have previously visited. This data includes visited websites, search term history, etc.
Mi Browser provides convenient functions to clear this data. You can clear the website cache, saved passwords, form autofill data, all cookie data, and history and website settings. You can also clear all the above data via Mi Browser > My Profile> Settings > Clear Data.
Moreover, you can set the browser to automatically clear the history each time you exit by using Mi Browser > My Profile > Bookmarks/History > History > Clear History on Exit.
If you're logged into a Mi Account on a device and choose to clear your bookmarks and history with data synchronization enabled, those same bookmarks and history will be cleared on any other device where you're logged into the same Mi Account.
3.3.3 Do Not Track
Help you stay away from tracking
User action tracking is a mature and widely-used technology. Some websites are embedded with multiple user behaviour-tracking solutions from various partners to provide more accurate ad recommendations to users. For example, when users view a product online, they will often see advertisements for the same product on other websites.
Users can enable the Do Not Track function in the browser via the Do Not Track option in Mi Browser >My Profile > Settings > Privacy and Security. Once enabled, Mi Browser will notify websites not to collect or track the user's browsing data while the user is browsing. Keep in mind that not all websites respond to browser Do Not Track signals and responses may vary. For example, once disabled tracking, some websites will not display advertisements based on other websites the user visited, but some websites will still collect and use browsing data for a number of reasons (i.e.: increase web security, provide content, advertising and recommendations).
