4.10 Mi Music

4.10.1 Introduction

Mi Music Icon

Mi Music provides convenient audio playback and management services for smartphone users, including local music and online audio. Users can easily search, watch, collect and share audio content within the application.

In addition to providing user-friendly services, Mi Music default to protecting user privacy and minimizing the amount of data required for providing and optimizing services. Moreover, Mi Music also offers various functions to help users manage data and protect privacy.

Mi Music provides services globally, offering users a global audio experience.

4.10.3 Data Collection and Usage

1) Local Video File Management

Mi Music offers fundamental features that enable users to play and manage audio files stored locally. When you use only the local Mi Music feature, we only collect the analysis data described in the Analytic section below. In India, Indonesia, and Malaysia, Mi Music also collects records of the playlists you play, collect, and create locally, and synchronizes them online so that you can view your playback history. Outside of India, Indonesia, and Malaysia, records of playlists that users play, collect, and create locally will be saved locally.

2) Online Audio/Video

When using Mi Music to listen to online music or watch online music videos, Mi Music collects your country or region settings, network type, and device and system specifications to provide you with appropriate audio/video content.

Mi Music also collects your audio/video playback data so that you can view your listening/watching history.

Please note that we may use the data collected in this feature to provide personalized recommendation services. You can disable the personalized recommendations at any time in the settings.

3) Audio/Video Search

Search history is saved locally.

4) Third Party Online Audio/Video

Mi Music partners with third party providers, including YouTube, Hungama, and Joox, to offer users a wealth of songs and music video content. We do not sell any personal information to third parties.

5) Analytics

Data analytics helps us identify issues with the application and improve the user experience. Data collection for analytics purposes is controlled by our MIUI User Experience Program. For more information, go to Settings > Password & Security > Privacy > User Experience Program > Learn more about User Experience Program.

Mi Music collects network type, region settings and area settings, and certain product interaction data, such as click counts and page exposure rates for each module, for analytics and improvement of user experience.

Mi Music also collects crash data for troubleshooting and improvement purposes.

6) Advertising

Mi Music provides personalized advertisements for you. To learn about how Mi Music collects and processes users' personal information, refer to Mi Music Privacy Policy.

4.10.4 Manage Your Privacy

1) Access, Download, or Delete User Data in Mi Video

You can request to access, download, or delete your data in Mi Music by accessing the Privacy Center in Mi Account or by contacting us via Xiaomi Privacy Support.

2) Withdraw consent

You can revoke the consent in Mi Music settings. Go to Mi Music > Settings > More advanced settings and enable the "Withdrawal of consent" option. Once this option is enabled, Mi Music will stop collecting data and delete data stored locally and in the cloud.

3) Manage Personalized Recommendations

You can manage personalized recommendation services. Go to Mi Music > Settings > More advanced settings, and then disable or enable the personalized recommendation option.

4) Managing personalized advertisements

Personalized advertisements in this application are controlled by the "Personalized Advertisements" option in the system settings. For more information, please refer to 4.13 Advertisement.

5) Managing data collection for analytical purposes

You can allow or stop the data collection for analytical purposes in the settings, go to Settings > Password and Security > Privacy > User Experience Program, and adjust the "Enroll in User Experience Program" option.
